So I guess to start off, in terms of big news, uhhhh, I’m making big boi moves, which is making my credit score is going up! I feel like an actual adult for once, being all responsible n shit x3 I wanna switch out my car for a cheaper one so I’m not tied into that much debt, so after I pay off my outstanding balances with the various entities I’m bound to, that should be my next step.
School’s getting a bit easier I think, I’m acclimating myself to the regimen. Three of the four classes I’m taking are really easy for me, and one where I’m absolutely lost as shit on @w@ But besides that, shits not as bad as I thought x3 I just hope that my ADHD meds will be what I need to push through this semester and NOT procrastinate my way to flunking out… again… Imma try not to though. I notice when I am on them, I’m still really productive which is great, but i tend to be productive in the things with a lower priority, school is usually the last thing I actually touch on. Like right now, I’m writing another post instead of doing HW xD Old habits die hard I guess.
Now in terms of my personal life/projects, that’s where shit is the most confusing currently. Changes are happening in my primary job which i gotta prepare for, hr type changes and training, new recruits in my department, etc. And on my second job I gotta keep in mind and manage since they seem to be UNABLE to manage schedules properly. And my third job, well I basically gotta take on more responsibilities to receive a promotion, which I kinda don’t wanna do, I’m already tired every day as it is, but whatever x3. Then I need to take care of the frickin gay ass speeding ticket I got a while back, the due date is slowly creeping back up, and I need to get started on it sooner than later.
In terms of projects, right now I’m managing my minecraft server and jellyfin stack for my family. My next thing besides the comptia A+ exam is to implement up my FOSS WiFi plan. Then after that, I wanna work on setting up NFC authentication for my LUKS enabled linux PC’s, buy an ATX 1u case, update my IRL website, update extocine.com, work on drawing and making a bit of new lore for my OC, work on my languages, work on my guitar, write a single configuration file for NixOS, learn FreeCAD, 3D-print my server mounts, learn the web-dev project (including node.js and databases), the STT TTS workflow thingy with my raspberry pi 0, and properly optimizing ComfyUI to make image-to-video generation work. I think that’s all I have on my to-do list. xD Unfortunately server mounts, hard drives, SSD’s, ammunition, and IP hardware aren’t the cheapest, especially considering my tight as SHIT budget.
Lastly, I still gotta factor in my social life and whatnot. There’s
like 2-3 spots I used to play at every week, but now I’m only doing it
twice a month, since I still need to make time for myself, my school,
and to save on gas money since they’re all out the way. I also have this
youth group talk type deal that’s starting up soon, which helps at least
a little with my mental health. I also gotta keep in mind other stuff
like still maintaining my current friendships, still making new ones,
meeting new people, I gotta start going on dates n shit cause I
am TIRED AS SHIT of being a lonely af single virgin fr, I have
therapy every 2 weeks, and I meet with my psychiatrist every month, and
ofc still some time for myself to goon rest, think/mediate,
exercise, play video games and whatnot. no seriously i fucking
DREAD the thought of having to put up with dating people in 2026 and tbh
that’s a whole blog on its own, but unfortunately its a necessary evil.
This exto isn’t gonna marry itself x3. I genuinely have 0
fucking clue how I haven’t absolutely exploded right now, my current
schedule would’ve ended me like, back in February.
Basically, now that I have an actual server rack, I think it’s only appropriate I fully utilize it and create my own network! I have 2 managed switches with VLAN capabilities, and one unmanaged switch. As I’m currently writing this, I have a second RJ-45 to PCIe NIC card on the way. My plan is to route my ISP’s fiber line directly into one of my managed switches, forward that to my server, and then forward that to the rest of my house. As far as I understand it, the fiber-to-SFP adapter that came with the WiFi-Box is what’s technically considered the modem in networking terms. After plugging said SFP device into a switch, I forward all of that into a NIC. That NIC will literally have the Public IP. Then forward that NIC into a Proxmox VM running software like OPNSense, and after verifying, set up my firewall rules. I want 3 VLANs I think, one for the house, one for IoT devices, and one for a VPN, for torrenting reasons x3. After managing that, testing the firewall, set up the port-forwarding rules, subnets, DNS, etc, I then use the 2nd NIC as LAN out. After that, set up my managed switches to utilize the VLANs, attach wireless access points, and then test everything! Optional add-ons would include FreeCAD for custom mounts, and cable managing the bitch.
Right now I need to: install proxmox on my machine, learn how to use proxmox, re-configure my linux mint set up again for the current docker services, install and run OPNSense, and configure, configure the WAN/LAN settings, the firewall and VLANs, and then adjust EVERY device at home to the new set up, make a NixOS config file to make deployment of new machines stupid simple, manage all my machines with kubernetes and create a system for logs, maintenance, and back ups, and then test everything. All for completely FOSS and enterprise-grade WiFi and locally-hosted services! w
I know it seems kinda pointless, but the goal is to take that as a learning experience about TCP/IP networking, cyber security, containerization and server management etc. Not only am I gonna challenge myself and grow as a computer expert, but I just KNOW bringing up in an interview somewhere or putting it on my resume will absolutely impress hiring managers, really get their dicks hard or something xD
Having physical photos of me doing all this shit with:
kubernetes, NixOS, local LLMs, docker, SFP, Fiber, DevOps, Linux, TCP/IP networking, firewalls, physical wiring and cable management, cyber security, VLANs, system administration, git, hardware installation and troubleshooting, proxmox, hypervisors, virtual machines, containers, utilizing a KVM, DNS, subnetting, front end web development, back end development, VPN configuration, etc etc
along with a degree AND certifications will make me an absolute
MONSTER on the job market >:3 My goal is to be
un-unhirable!
